Objectives
The project "Grow together", carried out by JoJo – Kindheit im Schatten, aims at families with a parent suffering from mental health problems. To give the children of these families the chance to grow up healthy and develop positively, they are supported by mentors.
"Grow together" wants to empower the families, take some of the weight off their shoulders and contribute to an improved quality of everday life. Furthermore, it contributes to equal opportunities for children of families affected by mental health issues. Target groups are families in the province of Salzburg.
Implementation of the evaluation
The evaluation's focus is on the process (process evaluation) as well as on the results and outcomes of the project (summative evaluation).
queraum. cultural and social research supports the JoJo project team in Salzburg in reflecting the project steps and the outcomes of the measures taken.
The effects and benefits of the mentorship programme are analysed based on the perspectives of both families and mentors. Qualitative research methods such as guided interviews (including the production of ego-centred networks) with selected families and focus group discussions with mentors are applied in the research process. In addition, all families and mentors are asked for their feedback applying a user-friendly questionnaire.
