Objectives
queraum was responsible for the external evaluation of the EU project #besafeonline carried out by SOS Children´s Village, Rat auf Draht and ÖIAT/Saferinternet.at.
Based on the results of studies and experiences with the #sicheronline awareness campaign, the project has set itself the goal of supporting children and young people in dealing responsibly with digital media and protecting themselves from violence online. Since there is an enormous need for information and support, especially in child and youth welfare, a media education concept for institutions in this area was developed. Professionals and educators were trained and sensitised by means of various offers.
Existing online counselling and information services for children and young people were further developed (e.g. live streaming of topics, peer-to-peer forums). In addition, concrete offers were directed at authorities, politicians, platform operators and the general public.
Implementation
The focus of the evaluation was on impact evaluation. To answer the evaluation questions, the perspective of the project team as well as the feedback of the target groups itself (e.g. professionals and educators participating in trainings, networking events and online exchange forums as well as children and young people reached in workshops) were taken into account. Written feedback forms and online questionnaires were used. The evaluation also included data and experiences gathered by the project team.
