Objectives

In our project we will research (using quantitative and qualitative research methods) if women with a disability who have experienced violence are provided equal access to support services (targeting women and/or persons with disabilities).

Target groups

  • women with disabilities who have experienced violence
  • women's counselling services, women's shelters and service providers for persons with disabilities
  • stakeholders at national and European level

Partners

Austria (Coordination: Ludwig Boltzmann Insitut für Menschenrechte, project partners: queraum. kultur- und sozialforschung und Ninlil), Germany (Justus-Liebig-Universität Gießen), UK (University of Leeds) und Iceland (University of Iceland)

Umsetzung

The access of disabled women to support services will be analysed, documented and improved. The cooperation, communication and exchange between women's counselling services, women's shelters and service providers for persons with disabilities will be strengthened.

One specificity of the project is that women with disabilities are not "only" study subjects but that they are part of the project team. The research team as well as the advisory board are composed of persons with and without disabilities.
